Levels
Before the start of your course, you will complete a test to check your level of English. You will also complete a speaking test at induction. You will then be informed when you will start.
This level is designed for students who have never studied English before or who know only a few basic words. You will build a strong foundation so that everyday situations in Ireland feel comfortable and achievable.
- Introduce yourself and talk about your daily routine.
- Understand and use common classroom and survival phrases.
- Use essential grammar such as the verb to be, simple present and simple past.
- Gain confidence speaking in pairs and small groups.
At this level you can already manage simple conversations. The focus is on expanding your vocabulary, understanding native speakers more easily and feeling at home in everyday situations.
- Talk about your family, hobbies, work and free-time activities.
- Order food, ask for directions and handle basic travel.
- Develop listening skills using real-life audio and video.
- Grow your confidence to speak more spontaneously.
You can already communicate in familiar situations. This level helps you become more independent with English so you can manage life, travel and work with fewer limits.
- Talk about past experiences, future plans and opinions in more detail.
- Improve grammar such as past tenses and comparatives.
- Read short articles, emails and social media posts with confidence.
- Develop strategies for learning outside the classroom.
At Intermediate level you can already communicate in most situations, but want to sound more natural and accurate. This level is often the bridge towards exam preparation or academic study.
- Take part in discussions about work, study and current topics.
- Consolidate key grammar such as conditionals and modals.
- Expand your vocabulary for presentations, meetings and emails.
- Practise longer pieces of writing such as reports and essays.
This level prepares you to operate comfortably in an English-speaking environment, follow academic courses and start preparing for exams such as IELTS or Cambridge.
- Express and defend opinions on complex topics in fluent English.
- Work with authentic materials such as talks, articles and podcasts.
- Refine your grammar and vocabulary to sound natural and precise.
- Develop exam-style reading, writing and listening strategies.
At Advanced level you fine-tune your English for professional, academic or leadership contexts. You will work with demanding texts and tasks that mirror real-life challenges.
- Participate confidently in meetings, presentations and debates.
- Understand complex spoken English, including fast native speech.
- Produce well-structured reports, essays and formal emails.
- Prepare for high-level exams or university study in English.
